Blood-and-Honor

Blood and Honor

Blood and Honor takes you to the frontier of North America in the 1700s There you will witness events through the eyes of French fur trader Pierre-Louis de Lorimier (Peter Loramie). This is the first novel about his colorful life – from his birth near Montreal, Canada, in 1748, to his death in Cape Girardeau.

Watch him trade with Native tribes. Travel with him as he and Native warriors raid Kentucky settlements. Share in the capture of Daniel Boone and be present when his trading post (at Fort Loramie) is looted and burned under orders from George Rogers Clark. Sit at the Lorimier dinner table in Cape Girardeau with Meriwether Lewis and meet Lorimier’s Shawnee wife Charlotte de Bougainville, and learn about the famous father she never knew. These events and more will take you back to a time when the country was new and the frontier was wild.

Road to Wapatomica: A Modern Search for the Old Northwest

Looking for history on our streets and street corners, in our parks and even in our backyards, Bob Hunter sets out on a journey across the Midwest in search of memorable moments from the days of the Old Northwest. Forts, trails, trading posts, Native American villages, battlefields, gravesites and landmarks, both remembered and forgotten, are all on his radar, as are places where acts of heroism, murder, butchery and massacre took place. He tackles the job with humor, curiosity and skepticism, tries to separate legend from fact, and introduces readers to the people he encounters along the way.

Shelby County Memorial Records 1819-1975

Compiled by Barbara Adams and Gene Mozley – 668 pages with index

From the Preface…

In an effort to preserve information still obtainable from the old cemeteries and make it readily avialable to researchers, some members of Lewis Boyer Chapter NSDAR have compiled this record of burials in Shelby County, Ohio. Various sources of information were utilized, principally cemetery custodians’ records, church records, mortuary records and tombstone inscriptions. Interment records, where available, were copied as more data is provided therein than can be obtained from tombstones. Additionally, such records have been used in conjunction with tombstone inscriptions for the records of some church cemeteries…

A great source of information for the genealogist!
